Life With Four

The day we became a family of four felt like crossing the finish line of a marathon… only to realize I’d accidentally signed up for a triathlon. Sure, the first leg was hard (hello, pregnancy!), but now I was in uncharted waters, trying to keep two small humans alive while not completely losing my mind. Spoiler: my mind is holding on by a thread.
One memorable night, as I was finally dozing off, the baby started crying. Naturally, this woke up the toddler, who shuffled into our room with his blankie and the world’s biggest pout. “The baby is too loud,” he declared, as if I had any control over it. My husband, the peacemaker, sprang into action—or tried to, until he stepped on a rogue toy car. The sound he made was somewhere between a roar and a yelp, and I would’ve laughed if I wasn’t already plotting my escape to a deserted island.
Meanwhile, the toddler decided this was a great time to start a full-blown protest. “I need a snack!” he shouted, completely ignoring the fact that it was 2 AM and the kitchen was closed. The baby’s cries reached a new level, and there I was, torn between comforting one, calming the other, and finding a way to discreetly kick the toy car under the bed forever.
In that moment, I thought, This is it. This is motherhood. Messy, chaotic, and hilarious in hindsight (emphasis on the hindsight).
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. At MomUnity, we celebrate these everyday “bootcamp” moments that test us, strengthen us, and remind us why coffee (or hot chocolate) exists. Because whether you’re balancing newborn wake-ups or toddler snack demands at ungodly hours, we’re all in this together.
So, here’s to the highs, the lows, and stepping on toy cars in the dark. Let’s laugh, cry, and thrive through it all—together.
